Chao Ban’s Visual Identity

Introduction
Chao Ban is a modern Vietnamese restaurant in Hanoi. Tasked with crafting its brand identity, I focused on creating a visual language that reflected the restaurant’s dedication to tradition while appealing to a contemporary audience. The design incorporates clean typography and a rich color palette inspired by Vietnamese culture. The cohesive branding extended to menus, signage, and digital assets, contributing to Chao Ban’s recognition as a Michelin Guide restaurant.

Key elements of the project
Creating the visual identity for Chao Ban was a unique challenge that blended tradition with modernity. The goal was to craft a brand that resonated with the rich cultural heritage of Vietnam while presenting a fresh, timeless look that would stand out in the contemporary dining scene. This delicate balance between respecting tradition and pushing boundaries was at the heart of the project.
The Michelin Guide recognition of Chao Ban was an incredible testament to the success of the branding strategy. It not only validated the restaurant’s commitment to quality but also highlighted the effectiveness of the visual identity in conveying sophistication, elegance, and authenticity—qualities that align with the Michelin Guide’s standards. Designing a brand that could evoke both warmth and refinement was truly an inspiring experience and remains a defining moment in my design career.
